Visit one the oldest historical monuments in Hungary at Benedictine Abbey and Museum (Bences Apatsag). The abbey was founded in the 11th century by King Andrew I. You can visit his tomb in the monastery's crypt--it's the only resting place of a medieval Hungarian monarch still preserved in its original condition. You can also view a copy of the abbey's founding charter that contains the oldest written example of the Hungarian language. Admire the Baroque architecture of the church, see the display of historical artifacts in the friary, and take in panoramic views of Lake Balaton and the surrounding countryside. The visitor center shows a film about the history of the abbey and includes a shop where you can buy souvenirs. • At the end of September, when tourists don't so much walk on this campus. Beautiful view of Lake Balaton from the observation deck-great place to selfi. Cozy streets for strolling, houses in perfect condition, gardens, flower beds and luxurious scent of lavender.

  • The exterior of the building does not promise something special, but you can't judge a book by its cover! Inside a very beautiful decorations and a neat Museum. And be sure to come here again and to admire the beauty of the Lake, Park and countless shops with souvenirs. Very nice place!

  • It is a great place to visit especially in the summer or spring but the midnight mass on 24th of december is also nice event. The view from the top of hill where the abbey is located is spectacular and the surroundings are also worth a visit.
  • It is much more than just a famous landmark. This icon dates back to 1300 and is part of our national history! Check it out! This temple is very beautiful, definitely worth visiting! It is on a hilltop and you get a very nice panoramic view onto the lake.
  • Szép kílátás.
  • We spent a fabulous evening here, met some of the monks, had great food, heard about the local cultural norms and had a taste of the local wines and beers. Also, music was played all afternoon (not only classicals, but also jazz). It was truly an amazing experience, I would come back again any day.
  • Great view one of the best spot of lake balaton
