  • Vacationing near Sumeg and read about the fortress that is one of the oldest and largest castles in Hungary. The fortress looks great from all angles, an interesting climb. Inside-feeling as if now from the corner will leave the Knights, so all authentic and vivid. You can take a walk, go drink some coffee or tea. Recommend.

  • Having stayed at the hotel kapitany, hopped out of the Castle, we discovered how to fix places at no cost to the State, and this is an example for us Italians, we have a huge heritage but we don't know use because "it would cost" at public administrations. The place is amazing, was completely destroyed, but thanks to an agreement with the State, the owner of the hotel has been able to rebuild the site in Exchange for the possibility of use. Now is a fabulous site, well maintained, but mostly returned to its old glory. Nice example for all of us. Go for it.

  • Its more like a stronghold than a classical castle but the view is splendid! It has been renovated for years and still in progress the stronghold getting and getting in better shape. When I was a kid it was more ruined than now! It’s a slight hiking to the stronghold but it’s worth you can see the Balaton if the weather is clear.
  • Fun castle to go to! Especially for children. If you're rather into the history of the castle, this might not be the place for you.
  • The most scenic Hungarian castle from the Middle Ages, standing tall on a hill, surrounded by a cute baroque town of Sümeg. The castle was never taken by the invading Turkish troops.
  • A place where history comes alive. Representation of daily medieval life and live shows make Sümeg castle one of the bests in Hungary
  • What a great place for kids. Interactive castle with lots of fun things to do for kids. The castle itself is not super impressive but the activities are. The show they have at 5pm is great! Worth every penny.
