Pannonhalma Archabbey
A haven of faith and tranquility, Pannonhalma Archabbey represents a historical monument that has lasted as long as Christianity in Hungary. Visit the Benedictine monastery founded in 996 CE, which is now one of the largest abbeys in the world. Learn about life in a monastic community, see the collection of medieval artifacts and artwork, and admire the herb house and botanical garden. The monastery also makes wine, and you'll have a chance to glimpse the production process and taste the final products. Religious and cultural events, such as exhibits and concerts, are regularly held at the abbey. Check online for the schedules. Multilingual audio tours are available, as well as a gift shop and a restaurant. Not all of the abbey is wheelchair-accessible, but special arrangements can be made for visitors with walking difficulties. Put Pannonhalma Archabbey and other Pannonhalma attractions into our Pannonhalma trip itinerary builder website, and watch your holiday take shape.

I went during the week and it was pretty much empty. Very peaceful. Give yourself plenty of time to walk the surrounding grounds and through the nice woods. Beautiful architecture and spectacular library. They offer audio tours in many languages which was interesting to listen to.

great place for a family short journey. Parking is near the church, loacated at visitor center. Go up with the stairway, and walk around the wall, you can find the entrance. It makes us shocked that they have an audio guide in Chinese, which is quite good for us to better understand the history.

The Abbey has a parking with cover and good price. Then you go on a pathway and get a ticket and access the place. The church, the cloister (only from outside), the library, temporary exhibition can ce visited. Family ticket is very good deal. The shop has lots of interesting products and items.

This UNESCO monastery is beautiful, located on top of a hill overlooking the plains. It has its own herb garden and winery on site also! The latter located before the parking area of the abbey. Paid parking near the entrance of the abbey itself although not much and not many spots. Tickets around 2000 huf to enter. Once inside you see the main church and library, which is absolutely stunning and the highlight. At the end is a gift shop selling their wine and beer and other goodies. Recommend!

Nice library, the church was unfortunately closed for private event, and the winery tour should have been booked in advance at least a day before. The Tricollis white wine is one of my favourite That can find there’s
