The Basilica, Eger

Categories: Sacred & Religious Sites, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4.5/5 based on 150+ reviews on the web
Admire the massive structure, ornate details, and folk-art frescoes of The Basilica, a 19th-century Classicist church recognizable by its hulking size and yellow color. The elaborate exterior features several statues, tall columns, two sanctuary towers, and a magnificent dome. Step inside to see the even more ornate interior, where high ceilings lead to colorful frescoes by folk artist István Takács. If you're lucky, you'll be treated to the sounds of its dramatic organ being played. To visit The Basilica on your trip to Eger, use our Eger trip itinerary maker.

  • The Basilica is very cute, is not far from the main square. Definitely worth it to visit while in Eger.
