  • A must for any visit to Budapest. We got a taxi up, ordered one through a app to get estimated fare as we were warned about getting ripped off...cost 3000huf, which was very cheap. Going up cost 1400 ...  more »

  • The visit of the mountain and the cable car ride to the Jánoshegy were wonderful! Alone the ride with the cable car was wonderful (Tip: warm clothes, there will be fresh!) Once at the top, the air is super fresh and clean! You can walk around a little and warm themselves in the small Café and eat a bite and drink (prices completely ok!). You can ascend on a Tower (Elisabethturm) and enjoy the view! You can either buy tickets for a ride or directly a ticket for the return included. Tip: Mobile phone in your pocket and enjoy the great view!

  • Cheap and delightful. We find out about this from the show Travel Man. It's a proper chairlift, not a cable car, so if you're not a fan of heights, avoid. The ascent is slow and peaceful, and the views of Budapest increasingly spectacular as you rise. There is much to see at the top, and various eating options. There is a further walk to the tower at the very top which is steep but worth it. A little cafe resides in the base of the tower. The best thing of all though is that you'll see all of Budapest ascending likewise, with picnics or little dogs on their knees, to enjoy the clean air and views like you. Like them, you will float over houses where people are barbecuing and pretending not to notice the stream of floating folk moving quietly over their gardens. It's a serene, slightly surreal and quite beautiful trip. (Practical note - take the 291 bus to the base of the lift - the Budapest day ticket covers the route. It's the last stop - Zugliget Libegõ )
  • Absolutely beautiful, a complete must for anyone going to Budapest. It's a little way out of the city, but the 100E (bus) gets you there easily. The chairlift itself is only a few pounds, and once at the top there are amazing views, and a lovely little castle which is definitely worth walking up.
  • I could ride this thing eternally. So quiet and peaceful along the way. The views are absolutely awesome when going down. Very cheap as well.
  • Best thing to do in Budapest : fogaskerekű-childrensrailway then chairlift down.
  • Needs work on the start & stop points in order to bring a cultural experience; such a giving history whilst waiting in the less than inviting coffee shop at the lower station.
