  • Its a beautiful castle and was completed in the late 1800s. Although it doesn't have much history to back it, the architecture is sufficient to make it a must visit. This is a family attraction and th...  more »
  • Disney must surely have got his inspiration from Budapest's churches and castles! If St Mathias' Church wasn't enough, this castle does it. Actually not a castle (in a defensive sense) but a gloriousl...  more »
  • Although some parts of the Castle were being renovated, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit. Lovely to look at and take pictures.  more »

  • Vajdahunyad Castle is one of the romantic castles in Budapest, Hungary, located in the City Park by the boating lake / skating rink. The castle, despite all appearances, was built in 1896, and is in fact a fantasy pastiche showcasing the architectural evolution through centuries and styles in Hungary. The castle is the home of several festivals, concerts and the exhibitions of the Hungarian Agricultural Museum.
  • More impressive from the outside. For a few bucks, you can go up in 2 of the towers. The views are nice but nothing spectacular. Also, the inside is very modern, not castle-like at all. There's also hundreds of dead, stuffed animals inside, which is kind of depressing and seems a bit outdated. Let's start respecting nature.
  • The Castle Vajdahunyad is a really nice castle in the middle of the park. During winterseason there is an ice skating ring behind the castle and during the summer small boats can be rented to enjoy the small lake around the castle. There are always some events in the park, it is close to the Heroes's Square which is also really nice and to the Zoo as well. During the night nice photos can be taken from the castle because there are many reflectors pointed at it. Inside the castle there is a museum and a small church, they are also nice and interesting.
  • "ABSOLUTELY STUNNING" We just happened to stumble across this place purely by chance. I must say I'm so glad that we did. The whole place is like something out of a fairytale. Absolutely beautiful.
  • The exterior is charming. For me, it was much like looking at the Disneyland castle - it's a pretty castle, but if you love castles for their history, this one won't do it for you. I never should have gone. My boyfriend, on the other hand, loved it. He doesn't care a bit about history. So there you have it. The grounds are green and well cared for with benches to sit on. There are cafes to eat at and even a small park. The Museum of Agriculture and the Statue of Anonymous, both interesting to see, are nearby.
