At University Church, behold an extravagant 18th-century Baroque church built under the Pauline Order. Notice its distinctive brown-red facade and towers capped with copper spires that today are tinged green with exposure to the elements. Step inside to see the richly decorated interior, featuring statues and gold accents. Gaze upward toward the high ceilings, where frescoes depict the life of Mary. The church also features a Black Madonna, inspired by the Our Lady of Czestochowa church in Poland. Local students often flock here before their exams to pray to the Black Madonna.
