Tropicarium, Budapest

4.0
#2 of 6 in Zoos & Aquariums in Central Hungary
Zoo / Aquarium Nature / Park
Part aquarium and part zoo, Tropicarium houses a variety of animals from all over the world, including exotic amphibians and reptiles, tropical birds, monkeys, fish, and sharks. Displays are themed around plant and animal life of the ocean, rain forests, and the native species of Hungary. All information is given in both Hungarian and English. Get up close to six large sharks in the 12 m (40 ft) glass observation tunnel. Stop by the Ray Tank, where you have the chance to touch the stingrays. Keep in mind that the complex is quite far from the city center, and will be found the most entertaining by children. • It is located in a mall, the advantage is you can go shopping after. Many interresting fish. Shark tank is big with many other marine creatures. We saw crocodiles, snakes and many other reptiles. You ...  more »
  • Were with child 3.5 years. Everyone enjoyed it, but Thursday in 12:00 there were a lot of people. I wanted to go out soon ... Tunnel with sharks and other fish, of course, but if you only have a few days to go so far away from the city ... Although we have entered the Palace of wonders, in the same SHOPPING CENTER, and in a couple of stores bought a very inexpensive good clothing for the child and for yourself.

  • Had a very nice time there. Even though we were 2 adults there, but I got a chance to feel like a kid. Tunnel was absolutely amazing experience!
  • The first room was just a tiny bit too humid and difficult to breathe in. The animals look great, except that crocodile looks plastic. Sharks are majestic and Thursday feeding looks impressive. Petting stingrays is awesome. Fun afternoon for all ages.
  • Able to see marine life in short period of time and also can watch stingrey and shark closely
  • Full of people, no air, stuffy. But quite a big variety of fish and other animals, it's worth a visit.
  • Nice but rather small place. Good to visit as a part of another trip but not to plan trip as this is only visiting place.

Where to stay in Budapest

Attracting countless visitors with its architecture, history, and atmosphere, Budapest also provides a great selection of places to stay. The city’s hotels include everything from cozy and economical boutique establishments to luxurious world-renowned chains. Alternatively, choose from the huge variety of bed and breakfasts and hostels, as well as rental apartments ranging from economic to deluxe. While accommodations are spread throughout the city, more of them cluster on the livelier Pest side. You may want to place yourself near the sights you want to see most, but keep in mind that the city's wide public transportation network makes it relatively easy to reach all the major attractions no matter where you’re staying.
