While it offers excellent views of the city, Szechenyi Lanchid serves as a historic landmark itself: It's the first bridge to span the Danube River in Hungary. Built by English engineer William Tierney in 1849, this structure connects the east and west side of Hungary's capital city. The bridge features two road lanes, plus a pedestrian zone for those traveling on foot. Cross this well-known symbol of Budapest, marvel at its stone structure, and compare both sides of the city. Visit Széchenyi Square on the Pest side of the bridge, or head up to the Castle Hill on the Buda side. It's a bridge... That's it....

The Chain Bridge , a suspended bridge crossing the Danube connecting Buda to Pest , is one of the most beautiful bridges in Europe. Lions carved in the stone at the edges of the bridge give you the impression that crossing this bridge you will enter in a world of story. A very romantic place. At sunset, the bridge is bathed in golden light and catches life. Overnight the lights flood the landscape and everything it flashes like Fairy Tales!

The bridge is beautiful and it has a perfect riverside bar at the pest part of the bridge!
-
The bridge has the name of István Széchenyi, a major supporter of its construction, attached to it, but is most commonly known as the "Chain Bridge". At the time of its construction, it was regarded as one of the modern world's engineering wonders. It has asserted an enormous significance in the country's economic, social and cultural life, much as the Brooklyn Bridge has in New York and the US. Its decorations made of cast iron, and its construction, radiating calm dignity and balance, have elevated the Chain Bridge to a high stature in Europe. It became a symbol of advancement, national awakening, and the linkage between East and West

One of the most iconic attractions in Budapest. It gives an amazing view of the surrounding areas. A good photography point, an even better point for crowd watching. Nothing to do here. You can hop into any of the world class cafés of Budapest right across this bridge, on either sides.
