  • The Plaza, designed by the architect Friedrich Stüler, is located in Pest before the chain bridge, crossing which leads to Buda. Since the end of World War II until 2010 this square was dedicated to President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, while from 2011, his name is changed to Istvan Szeceheny ter: the count in the first half of the 19th century contributed to the construction the chain bridge and the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. It is busy, but within the square there is a wonderful garden that is home to many famous and important Hungarian political figures, including the aforementioned Count Istvan Szeceheny. The square is also surrounded by sumptuous palaces, among which stand out for beauty the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in the neo-Renaissance style of the 19th century and art nouveau-style Gresham Palace from the early 20th century (luxury hotel of Four Seasons).
