#18 of 52 in Shopping in Budapest
Gift & Specialty Shop Shopping
A combination of a concept store, art gallery, and event space, Paloma showcases works by Hungarian contemporary artists and designers. Located in the inner courtyard of a historic building, the shops and galleries occupy several rooms on the ground floor and mezzanine, all of which were restored and furnished by artists themselves. Hop from one showroom to another and meet the designers, while browsing for an original gift or a souvenir among the variety of clothing, jewelry, and accessories on offer. • If you are passing nip in and support local artists. Very friendly staff and you can see who your money is going to. Looks small and uninviting from the front but you are soon in a traditional court y...  more »

  • Paloma is a great place if you want to meet local designers and / or buy small, mainly handcrafted goods. There are some 10-15 different little stores in this beautiful classicist courtyard, 2-3 designers in each of them (many of them work here on a daily basis). My personal favourite is Cikkcakk Studio (pictured). Negative: not easy to find from the street - entrance is near the confectionery!
  • This is a very calm and beutiful place in the historic place of budapest, near the shopping street. Many different artists make and sell their selfmade clothes, jewelry, bags, decorartion, notebooks and more. These pieces are very inividual and there's something for everyone. They are all very beutiful and nice but sonme of them are very expensive. Depends on the artist, but clothes are mostly one size that is average and i'm a bit thicker so unfortunatly it doesn't fit me.
  • Cool place, highly recommended. went there to see collections, there are many makers/artists over there, you can buy things (cloths, home decoration, jewelry and etc) cheaper than other boutique shops.
  • Hungarian design center Contemporary Lot of different little design shops fr young hungarian designers. Great yard
  • Had brunch in the courtyard, food and coffee was delightful.

Where to stay in Budapest

Attracting countless visitors with its architecture, history, and atmosphere, Budapest also provides a great selection of places to stay. The city’s hotels include everything from cozy and economical boutique establishments to luxurious world-renowned chains. Alternatively, choose from the huge variety of bed and breakfasts and hostels, as well as rental apartments ranging from economic to deluxe. While accommodations are spread throughout the city, more of them cluster on the livelier Pest side. You may want to place yourself near the sights you want to see most, but keep in mind that the city's wide public transportation network makes it relatively easy to reach all the major attractions no matter where you’re staying.
