  • Wonderful exhibits and old instruments and we were treated to mini-concerts by a pianist/violinist and a singer. Lots of historical information about the composers - especially Bartok - and the histor...  more »
  • Music is a personal and intimate emotion, a kind of intimate encounter with our deep I. In this museum I perceived a winding and involvement especially seeing the sheet music of Bartok, photos and various information and to then hear my heart explode in his chest at the sight of ancient musical instruments there exposed. You could hear the sound of the instruments by means of a PC. I think every child should visit him in Budapest.

  • Really a great museum but as others have noted only some parts of the museum have placards with English translations which makes it difficult to get the most out of what is presented. Would definitely be five stars if every placard had an English translation.
  • Very well presented museum. The staff is kind of quirky in that they follow you around a little bit.
  • An excellent Museum with a very fascinating collection.
  • A large collection of mainly uniforms ranging from the different hungarian empires and the nazi and soviet occupations. You can also see a fairly large collection of weapons along with the uniforms. Unfortunately, few of the placards are in english so it's difficult to learn anything besides observing the collection.
  • Nothing is in English. Everything's looks interesting but it's impossible to understand the history. It would be nice if they had English translations to read. Entrance was 1500 Hungarian

Where to stay in Budapest

Attracting countless visitors with its architecture, history, and atmosphere, Budapest also provides a great selection of places to stay. The city’s hotels include everything from cozy and economical boutique establishments to luxurious world-renowned chains. Alternatively, choose from the huge variety of bed and breakfasts and hostels, as well as rental apartments ranging from economic to deluxe. While accommodations are spread throughout the city, more of them cluster on the livelier Pest side. You may want to place yourself near the sights you want to see most, but keep in mind that the city's wide public transportation network makes it relatively easy to reach all the major attractions no matter where you’re staying.
