(4.5/5 based on 3,400+ reviews on the web)
Walk, swim, or visit the sites at Margaret Island (Margitsziget), a popular place for recreation in the heart of the city. In the 13th century this area was called "Island of Rabbits," but it has undergone many changes since then. View ruins of medieval churches and a Dominican convent on the island. Come during a concert at the island's open-air theater, see an outdoor movie, or eat dinner under the stars. Hang out at one of the many restaurant or cafes on the island, go for a run, have a picnic in a landscaped garden, relax at an outdoor pool, or play in the sun at Palatinus water park. • Very disappointed, I was looking forward to her visit, but there are jobs everywhere and everything is closed, the fountain of the zoo, absolutely everything!

  • Margitsziget is a relaxing place to go for a walk, run around the track that goes on the outer part of the island or rent a bike. The annual Terry fox run happens here.
  • a piece of green in the busy city. great for families, sport and an outdoor activity you want . great spot.

  • A really lovely island worth a visit. A great place to walk around. Lovely gardens, fountains and monastery ruins. It is family friendly, I only visited during the day but I am sure it would be just as nice in the evening. Also a good running track which was being used by lots of joggers.
  • Lovely island in the heart of Budapest, a green patch in the sea of buildings, a perfect location for several occasions, quiet, romantic and beautyful. I would recommend taking a stroll, especially on the newly refurbished Margaret bridge.
  • Best place to go all year in Budapest! :) If you like running then even better, there is a track that goes all around the island.
  • Very nice island with one of the best fountains I have seen. Best to go later at night to see the fountain to see the lights. There's a running track around the outside of the island which is about 5 km long and has distance markers.
  • It's the place where the downtown goes when they needs nature. The island has huge parks where you can hang out, lay down or take a walk. Busier during weekends and may worth checking the clubs and pubs in the evening.
