  • This Synagogue is smaller than the great synagogue of Budapest, but not less interesting and beautiful.

  • If it is not one of the biggest of the world, of the Kazinczy Street synagogue is an essential step for any stay in Budapest. Much quieter than the great synagogue, you can much better soak up the spirit of the place and feel the tragedy of her story. Its conversion into stable, during the second world war, allowed the preservation of its structure, but also of most of its stained glass windows and the bimah (pulpit). Built in the 19th century, to be the Orthodox community synagogue (which explains the Central presence of the bimah), she was, at the end of the 20th century, the subject of two restoration campaigns that returned his pavement, its furniture and its colorful stucco. Admission is only 100 HUF, and with a little luck, you will be greeted by a lovely French lady who will enlighten you on the symbolism, the functioning and the history of the place. Yarmulke and shawl will be provided at the entrance.

  • Budapest has a lot of historical buildings. We visited this synagogue and were very impressed by the atmosphere. It's good to preserve history.
