Must see · Government Building · Architectural Building
Based on the British House of Parliament, Hungarian Parliament Building serves as one of the city's most beautiful landmarks with its recognizable neo-Gothic architecture. This site is the center of government activity, but it is also a magnificent domed structure and one of Europe's oldest legislative houses. This building was inaugurated in 1896 on the 1,000th anniversary of Hungary. Stroll along the Danube to take in views of the structure's exterior before entering. Walk up the building's intricate staircase and through its central hall, pausing to notice details like historic sculptures, stained-glass works, ornamental mosaics, and the Holy Crown of Hungary, which has been displayed here since 2000. • One of the most beautiful buildings I’ve ever seen. It’s very symmetrical and you can see it from approximately everywhere around the Danube. Once you go inside there are some guided tours (approximately 45 minutes) that can provide you with useful information about the parliament and history. They are offered in many languages including English, German, Spanish, Italian, etc. The view from inside the building is also breathtaking. If you are in Budapest a visit is really worthy!
  • This is one of the best parliament buildings that I've ever seen. It’s very magnificent and a has lot of details that kept me wanting to keep looking around. It is beautiful both at morning and night. For a good picture of the whole building at night time, I recommend that you to go to the Margaret bridge. From Fisherman’s Bastion, you can enjoy the view of the Parliament as well.
  • An impressive building on the banks of Danube. The architecture is imposing and majestic, resembling the architecture of the Parliament building in London and St.Paul’s cathedral. It is worth visiting day or night, it is impressive anyhow. We didn’t get to go inside but even from outside you have a lot to admire and view. There is a changing of the guards in the afternoon when they put down the flag too. A nice manifestation to watch.
  • Amazing new Gothic architecture and insanely huge once you go closer. It looks as pretty from up close as it looks from far away. It's lit up almost every night and looks the prettiest at night. Visiting inside can take up to 5 hours and you might have to book tickets in advance, so plan accordingly.
  • Amazing building in Budapest with dramatic history. Highly recommend to book sightseeing tour with tour guide - you’ll know, why there are thee parliament buildings. If you want to see night Budapest, you definitely have to take a boat trip along the Danube - 10€. Even in summer you’ll need a warm blanket.
