Hungarian Parliament Building, Budapest

Based on the British House of Parliament, Hungarian Parliament Building serves as one of the city's most beautiful landmarks with its recognizable neo-Gothic architecture. This site is the center of government activity, but it is also a magnificent domed structure and one of Europe's oldest legislative houses. This building was inaugurated in 1896 on the 1,000th anniversary of Hungary. Stroll along the Danube to take in views of the structure's exterior before entering. Walk up the building's intricate staircase and through its central hall, pausing to notice details like historic sculptures, stained-glass works, ornamental mosaics, and the Holy Crown of Hungary, which has been displayed here since 2000. • If you are in Budapest I highly recommend a tour of the parliament building. One can only enter via a guided tour and your best bet would be to purchase the tickets in advance online via the official ticketing portal. An evening tour enables you to experience the view of the Danube and surrounding structures while lit up.
  • Walk along the the Danube River. Enjoyed the breeze during autumn. You may also enjoyed the Buda Castle view across the river from afar. Remember to walk around the back of the Parliament building. Very amazing architecture.
  • Relatively expensive, you have to be a student to get the 6-24 year old discount. Fairly limited 45 minute tours, with the English speaking ones going quite quickly. There wasn't a lot to see as parliament was in session and the tour guide soon became repetitive. It is potentially worth a visit, bit by no means a must see, perfectly enjoyable from the outside.
  • Breath taking. Absolutely worth a visit, strongly recommend buying your tickets beforehand online. English speaking and photos are allowed except in the dome room where the crown and scepter are located. We got to watch the changing of the guard which was neat. If you want a great pic of the whole building take a river cruise. We did deluxe tickets with big bus. River cruise was included with silverline cruise at dock 11. It is near big bus stop 14 under the bridge.
  • Walking parallel to the Danube and looking at this stunning golden building on the other side of the river, I can feel it as I write about it. I miss this place. You will see lot of tourists on their night walk tours and all of them are either getting photographs with the parliament or the chain bridge. PS- It's absolutely safe for solo women travellers to travel at night around Budapest.
