Gul Baba's Tomb (Gul Baba Turbeje), Budapest

3.9
Reflect on the richness of the capital city's multicultural past at Gul Baba's Tomb (Gul Baba Turbeje). The 16th-century Islamic turbe (a type of mausoleum architecture translated as "tomb tower") on the Buda side of the city is the resting place of the Ottoman dervish, poet, mystic, and theologian Gül Baba. The tomb is a pilgrimage site, and as an important historical monument, it is administered by the Republic of Turkey. Admire the restored Islamic architecture, view the elaborate ornaments, stroll through the rose garden, and examine the collection of exhibited artifacts. The road leading up to the tomb is paved in old cobblestones, so if you walk be sure to wear appropriate shoes. Admission is free of charge. • A highly underrated site to see in Budapest! Very beautiful views of the city from a unique perspective and with interesting history of the Ottoman empire and it's Dervish influence in Budapest. Definitely worth your visit and as there is no ticket charge, you can afford to take away the lovely Rose Water fragrance home which smells amazing!
  • A nice lookout point. A neat little exhibition inside, admission is free. Accessible for visitors with disabilities. The gardens in the area are small, but nice. A great place to chill out during the day.
  • The tomb is opened again!! It's a wonderful place to contemplate during your visit in Budapest. You can visit the exhibition inside for free. The view on the whole city is also gorgeous.
  • Bo entrance fee not even to the exhibition which is inside the building. Beautifully renovated exterior and interior. Inside you can have a peak to the Turkish occupation era. Contemporary tools, maps etc.
  • Its ok... not loads to do. If you are in the area its great to see. However, don't go out of your way.
