  • Pathetic attempt to falsify history. It's pathetic, funny, and ridiculous simultaneously to realize that even the so-called artist who created this disgraceful object was confused and had no idea what he's doing. An archangel, a turul (a hawk-like mythological bird), and a crown without any apparent connection/correlation .... Monument of shame of Hungary.
  • Hitler occupied Hungary without a gunshot... it's a kitchy statue which tries to change history. I feel ashamed. It shouldn't have been made.
  • The statue is incredibly powerful. It depicts a guardian angel holding the world (symbolizing a weak and seemingly peaceful Hungary that was unable to fend for itself) being attacked by an extremely large and vicious black eagle (Nazi Germany) and is meant to show that Germany Took over and committed the atrocities during WW2. History says that Hungary supported the Nazi's and thus huge controversy for those that want Hungary to acknowledge their part in it and take responsibility. I'm no historian, I wasn't there. So I can't comment on the historical accuracy of the claims. But I do think it's inadvertently caused more talk and dialogue than any accurate statue could have created. So I think that it created exactly what a rememberence statue should have done. Even though the Hungarian civilians want it torn down.
  • Very dramatic monument, but extremely controversial! A more humble politically correct monument would be much more appropriate!
  • There is a huge controversy over the main memorial, but the really interesting aspect of the visit is the protest exhibition, just across the street, next to the fountain, with real artifacts of victims. This is the real tribute to the victims.
