Elisabeth Bridge, Budapest
(3/5 based on 190+ reviews on the web)
Elisabeth Bridge crosses the Danube at its narrowest point in Budapest. Admire the bronze statue of Elizabeth of Bavaria, for whom the bridge is named, in the garden on the Buda side. This side also features Döbrentei Square with two monuments, as well as historical baths nearby. On the other side, visit the March 15 Square, where the oldest church in Pest is located. The bridge offers one of the quickest walking routes between Buda and Pest. Take one of the pedestrian sidewalks next to the road on the bridge and enjoy the views. • Despite the Danube be off at that location, the bridge's suspension bridge structure, with no pillar in water, which makes it valuable in terms of engineering work. The initial bridge is from the early 20th century. However, in the second World War II Hitler's troops destroyed it, so the current is a reconstruction. Call the parish church of Plague to the base of the Hill of Saint Gellert.
