Ecseri Piac, Budapest

(1.5/5 based on 130+ reviews on the web)
Find great bargains and search for hidden treasures at Ecseri Piac. Not far from the city center, the market is easily accessible by public transportation. Look for everything from works of art and handicrafts to musical instruments, pieces of furniture, porcelain, antique weapons, toys, household items, and more. In addition to centuries-old items, you'll find a good selection of memorabilia from the Communist era. Even though many sellers don't speak much English, you should be able to inquire about items and negotiate prices without too much trouble. Haggling is a common practice, and most sellers are prepared to lower their prices slightly. Before you head to Budapest, plan trip itinerary details with our user-friendly Budapest itinerary planner, to make sure you see all that Budapest has to offer, including Ecseri Piac.

  • I have been here four times, each time I go to Budapest, and I've always left with something I treasure. Sure, there are fakes and yes, there are Nazi and Soviet artifacts that most would find offensi...  more »
  • I confirm what has been written previously by others: the market is actually a repository of junk that often is the doubt about their authenticity. A visit however does not affect the result of a holiday!
