Inspirock Rating:
4.6/5 based on 7,000+ reviews on the web
Take a cruise or walk along Danube, the river passing through 10 countries and four capital cities, including Budapest. The European Union's longest river, it originates in Germany's Black Forest and moves through Eastern Europe until it ends in the Black Sea via Romania and Ukraine. Photograph the river flanked by the Buda and Pest sides of the Hungarian capital from the famous Chain Bridge, which showcases the waterway. Step aboard a cruise for expansive views of the city, or stroll past monuments and historical buildings situated along the river, such as Parliament. For Danube and beyond, use our Budapest vacation trip planner to get the most from your Budapest vacation.

  • See the river is beautiful. Did a night boat ride across the river but I didn't find anything too much. Bad food and everything to sell to tourists. The cool thing is I only see Parliament at night, all lit up.

  • Love the public transport by water, we did this daily in Budapest during our stay. It feels like a holiday within a holiday.
  • As a lover of history, I loved walking along the banks of the Danube in some European cities. It is fascinating to imagine how many people have lived-and died-on the banks of this river. A statue in honor of the Holocaust in Budapest.
