  • We stood in line for about 10 minutes to get a table . It was completely full. The room is beautiful and the string quartet was a lovely addition to the atmosphere. Lunch for the two of us was about $...  read more »
  • We had afternoon tea at this very ornate 'over the top' café. I felt like I was a princess in a castle. The tea and apple strudel were delicious and this place is well worth a quick visit just for the...  read more »
  • one of the best of many great places to sit down and soak up the atmosphere, and have a great coffee and cake,or hot chocolate and cake.
  • The New York Cafe impressed me with an incredible buffet, great baked goods and a beautiful setting. Prices are sky high but if you want to splurge then it could be worth it. The buffet alone was 25 euro which is extremely expensive by Budapest standards. As I expected the service is friendly and perfect. Every staff member from server to manager will greet you with a smile and greeting as you walk by. Due the price I recommend having a light breakfast of pastries and coffee here unless you really want the VIP buffet. You'll get 99% of the "Emperor Franz Joseph experience" at a fraction of the price.
  • Cool atmosphere but not a cafe, more overpriced fine dining that unfortunately lost the love to cooking... The Salomon was without taste, I also tried the New York burger - sadly I was not impressed with that either. Have a cup of coffee and enjoy the view - go elsewhere for food.
  • Sitting in the 'Fine Dining' side - Outstanding service by very well trained staff, along with excellent food presented exquisitely. Live piano was also a great touch to the evening.
  • This place is indeed a gem of architecture and fine art decor. The roof is a masterpiece of excellence, just amazing. Ok. So now you have seen the roof, the chandeliers etc ,I do not think you are going to spend the rest of your stay taking pictures and looking upwards, you also want to eat.So.The food. The portions are relatively small. No flexibility to substitute steamed vegetables to plain potato's( as they are available in another item). The steak I had was one of the worst I have ever although nicely presented it was tasteless.the Wiener schnitzel my wife had was nice but the steamed vegetables she had were cold. With a bottle of mineral water we paid for these items and a selection of Hungarian cakes 20,000 Forint .that includes a service charge of some 2300 Forint. (68 Euros/91$) VERY! Expensive! So you pay for the place .The food is not worth eat.!Peolpe around us ordered pastas etc, some were amazed from the small sizes they were given. If you wish to take pictures of the lace you can take them from the gallery by entering the Hotel Lobby and from there to the restaurants gallery.
  • Food and coffee are a three star, but prices are really high. Nice atmosphere but far too pricey
