Budapest Zoo & Botanical Garden, Budapest

4.1
See a Komodo dragon, lion cub nursery, and diverse plant life at Budapest Zoo & Botanical Garden, the oldest zoo park in Hungary. Founded in 1866, this zoo is actually one of the oldest in the world. Walk through the park to admire more than 1,000 species of animals. Notice the historical Art Nouveau buildings in this nature preserve, as well as several exhibits of native and exotic plants in the gardens, including the Magical Hill and America Tropicana collections. Spend some time watching the zoo's rhinos, hippopotamuses, bears, primates, and many other creatures that have inhabited the park since its reconstruction after World War II. • What a beautiful Zoo!! Huge variety of animals and was very impressed with the enclosure sizes! You need to dedicate a minimum of 3 hours here. Lots of places to to stop and break with loads of food.....  more »
  • This is a great zoo with lots of great animals to see but the star of the show without a doubt was the Tigers. They were in this fabulous enclosure that meant we were able to sit right next to this...  more »
  • Had a fabulous time at this zoo. Would recommend. In the winter most of the cafes seems to be shut but managed to get a coffee from a hut.  more »

  • A 5 Star Zoo experience! Animals seemed happy with their enclosures and we're quite active! Beautiful grounds with fantastic greenery and gardens. No rubbish laying around, very clean and tidy. Staff happy and friendly. Easy to navigate and our 2 year old loved it! Best Zoo we have been to so far!
  • Loved this place ..it is massive take your time.. animals are really well looked after ..they enclosures are lovely. Price is not bad for a whole day adventure. . Loads of things to see and places to buy food and drinks. Bring you whole family you will not be disappointed . A definite must see if you in Budapest.
  • One of the most amazing zoos I have visited, can't wait until the new area is built and opened! The inside the mountain bit is absolutely amazing and so huge! Definitely get the chimney cakes as they're the best I've had and try to stay until late in the day as it gets much quieter and easier to get around!
  • A well equipped and amusing animal park for individuals, couples but mostly for families. The place is crowded with events and shows and minimum a full day is recommended for a visit. Please be aware that the zoo is open from 9 in the morning and is closing at 6 in the evening- if you wish to see everything take two days- in case you would like to enjoy the sights, too. A description of animals beforehand or some previous literacy is recommended for visitors, too as descriptions are not really available at the zoo.
  • Great place, you could spend a whole day. Very kid friendly and of course enjoyable for adults as well. There are animal pet zones which were the most fun part for my daughter and myself :)
