Anonymus Szobor (Anonymous' Statue), Budapest

(4.5/5 based on 700+ reviews on the web)
Anonymus Szobor (Anonymous' Statue) pays tribute to the nameless storyteller and the first medieval Hungarian chronicler. Contemporary sculptor Miklós Ligeti portrayed this important historical figure as one who is hiding his face under a hood. Look for the inscription in Latin at the base of the monument, which translates to "the notary of the most glorious King Béla." Anonymus' chronicles provide an insight into medieval Hungary and the origin of the Hungarians. Locals believe that touching the figure's pen makes you a better writer. Make Anonymus Szobor (Anonymous' Statue) a centerpiece of your Budapest vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Budapest vacation trip planner.

  • Nice statue ... mysterious and fascinating. Beautiful also the context that surrounds it: in a beautiful park, next to a castle with an artificial lake. To see. Near Heroes ' square.

  • A fine statue, but the thing that stands out is the great environment in the area. Very nice for walking, much to see.

  • Impressive statue in the center of the wonderful city park of Budapest. Very popular among locals as well as tourists. The statue is a tourist attraction and its right next to the agriculture museum.
  • A beautiful little place in Budapest, which is very quite. It is said that if you touch the pen you will get inspired yourself!
  • This is my personal favorite spot in the whole city. It is a beautiful statue, surrounded by history and mystery. Every writer, poet and lyricist can get the missing inspiration close to this poet without a name. It looks beautiful in every season. Ih he could speak he would tell me to leave him alone, already too many pictures. 😄
  • Fantastic statue in a great surrounding. Would definitely recommend visiting this place.
  • Nice statue, great writer!
