Jacmel Beach, Jacmel

#2 of 10 in Parks in Haiti
Beach · Hidden Gem · Nature / Park
Take a stroll along Jacmel Beach, a sandy bay offering a walkway, public art, and a chance to mingle with locals. Check out the mosaic wall murals on the boardwalk, created by a foundation for children. Have a meal at one of the nearby restaurants serving up fresh fish and lobster. An excellent place for a photo of the coastline, the landscape here remains unimpeded thanks to the lack of large crowds. Even though it is a safe place to swim, visitors generally come for a bit of leisure and a nice view. Some have reported trash on the shore, so temper expectations. • Jacmel right now is devoid of any character. If you wanna see people going through some unfortunate times then go for a visit. Otherwise, it really was uninviting even during what could have been a...  more »
  • Not a place for swimming. But a lovely walk and view the harbour. Nice to take the sea breezes in. Especially after having a shop in the various art galleries that abound.  more »
  • ...but it's a really pleasant place to wander or sit on a bench staring wistfully out to sea. the architecture is very tasteful and the grounds are kept clean.  more »
  • will not disappoint and very friendly locals, tourist safe
  • It's a beautiful view, and will be even better when Haiti's situation improves and the beach is cleaned up.
  • I enjoyed our walk along this beach with scenic views and not too many peddlers and hecklers. Plenty of fair priced goods to give as gifts if that's what you do. The pictures you can take are amazing. It is humbling to sit there and think about the number of relief helpers and aid that travelled along the docks and the boats that lined the area in the middle of crisis. This is one of those places you should go so that you can remember the problems that happened along this little half island. Wisdom from a homeless man; "We don't need anyone to live in the same way we do. Most would not choose not to have a hot shower or full bellies all the time. What we need is for people to remember we exist. Don't forget about us."
  • Beautiful place excellent hangout
  • Better atmosphere at night.
