Fuentes Georginas, Zunil

4.1
#4 of 30 in Things to do in Quetzaltenango Department
Geologic Formation Nature / Park
Relax and unwind in the hot water springs at Fuentes Georginas, which features four separate pools, each differing in temperature. Although it may feel like a tropical forest, the fresh mountain air keeps temperatures cool here. Take a sip of the mineral-rich water, said to possess healing powers, and consider staying overnight at rustic cabins, which come with personal hot tubs fed by the natural springs. The site also includes a shop and restaurant with a bar, which does get exceptionally busy on the weekends. Lockers and towels are available upon arrival. For travelers who use our online itinerary creator, Zunil holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Fuentes Georginas and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • Visited in the weekend and the place was very busy, but I suppose that is to be expected. The setting is pleasant, however the man made pools are pretty small aren't great. Judging by the smell of urine in the changing areas we weren't 100% confident that the waters were all that clean. To be honest it looks better in the pictures than in reality.
  • Water was very warm; it was a nightmare to get out because of the cold. Beautiful scenery on the way. Try a day when there is no fog, though.
  • You are going to love the road to get here, it's amazing. The place is really good, it has 3 pool with naturally warm water, at different temperatures each. Restaurant, locker service, bungalows(if you want to stay) and they even say the water has healing powers.
  • Best place to relax and heal yourself. Hike to the hidden spots, the main pools are full of people.
  • If you come early the morning you won't see any tourists (or almost...)
