We decided to arrive by bus, taking the bus to Mataquescuintla coming out of the Terminal (this is Q25.00 and makes several stops, so they expect a trip of 4 hours). arriving at Mataquescuintla we took a minibus which are going to Jalapa and ask to stop them in sweet pine (Q6.00). the place is located right next to the road. It has an area of infantile games, restaurant, rest areas, sports areas, ranches with barbecues, trails, canopy, horseback riding etc. If you want to stay overnight, also has area of camping and cabins of different sizes (must book and pay in advance). We decided to stay 2 nights in a cabin with cap for 5 people (we were 2). the cabins are rustic, but they have the basics (not appliances, private bath, shower with heater, area outside the hut with barbecue and bonfires). It is advisable to carry sufficient bedding, at night it's been quite cold. The last day of our stay was light, bathing with water so cold was a challenge. The restaurant which is open from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm is in my opinion the most weak place. Prices are a little expensive for what they offer and close too early. the food is rich, but nothing out of the ordinary. I ordered a cup of coffee that was undrinkable. I believe that they can improve on this aspect. They also have a small shop where you can buy basic things. Therefore I recommend to bring your own food, or at least to take breakfast and dinner. The service of the staff really outweighs the theme of the restaurant. All the people who work in the place are very attentive and friendly and strive to make one pass a good time in the place. I would like to highlight the service of Doña Elsa, who did something very nice for us. Asked if they sold little angels (marshmallows) to make them in our night campfire. She told us that he had but that later I was that the people go and she gladly bought them for us. He arrived overnight and we think he had forgotten him or not had gone, and which was our surprise that returned only to leave a bag of little angels to the we did in our campfire. This really pleased us very much. Also the next day for dinner, very kindly he sold us tortillas and gave us a piece of cheese and a bit of chirmol so the we did on the barbecue. They were delicious. the guardians who care during the night are also very polite and willing to help with what is needed. Speaking of the place, 4 trails there are señalizados(corto, medio, largo y extra largo) Although the last two are difficulty medium/high. Ideal for being in contact with nature, getting lost in the vegetation, watch the sunset or simply exercise. The canopy has two circuits (short Q50 and long Q100), it is worthwhile to make the long, also includes a few fun hanging bridges. I loved the place, because it is the escape from the tedium of the city that one needs from time to time. I hope to return soon. Any questions or additional information who wish, gladly I answer by Msg.

It is suitable for family with children or friends. The cabins to stay are welcome but were soiled and dirty bathroom, would be good to improve this aspect because it is a nice place to visit.
