(4.4/5 based on 320+ reviews on the web)
Take in the history and architecture at Guatemala City's crowning landmark, Palacio Nacional. The dictatorial government of Jose Ubico built this former presidential palace in the early 1940s, designed in a mix of styles ranging from Spanish Renaissance to Neoclassical. Over the decades it has seen earthquakes and government coups; today it is open for public viewing as a museum. Take a guided tour of the building to learn about its rich history and observe the ornate decor, paintings, and murals that grace the interior. • The National Palace has several artistic pieces on the inside, the stained glass windows are impressive and the story of the massacre of the native populations. Is also the history of the Presidents of Guatemala (something that few people know)
