Avenida La Reforma, Guatemala City

Stroll down the marble boulevard of Avenida La Reforma for a glimpse of some of the most desirable zip codes in the city. A main boulevard connecting the northern areas of the city to the southern districts, the orantely decorated 2 km (1.2 mi) avenue offers pockets of greenery, statues, and eateries dotted along it’s path. The road itself can get very busy, so take care when crossing. Don't miss the beautiful Botanical Gardens located at the northern end of the strip. • It connects the living area with a more peaceful atmosphere full of greenery in the city. It has countless monuments, embassies, and spaces for exercise and cycling. It is worth mentioning that this place is quite safe in contrast to others in the city. Many tourists come to visit it, due to the great diversity of activities what there is here, and at the end is the square of the obelisk, where every Sunday is a place of cultural manifestacions. Of all kinds.

Where to stay in Guatemala City

For easy access to the historical highlights of Guatemala City, many travelers choose to stay in the old, central district of Zona 1. While plenty of budget hostels and hotels in this area offer decent rooms, some visitors refrain from this part of the city due to its unfortunate reputation for theft and gun crime, especially at night. You'll find safer areas farther south--in Zona 9 and 10--where you can choose from a much wider selection of high-end hotels, while also enjoying proximity to the airport, the metro, and Guatemala City's best nightlife.
