  • The Volcán de Ipala is a forced journey if we like nature, camping, the beautiful scenery, especially the rarity of having a Lake within the crater at the top.

  • The place is incredibly beautiful, its forests are still quite pristine. They have a viewpoint from where you can see the lagoon perfectly. The climate is temperate, night and morning, gets a little cold, but is not so extreme. The hike is hard, but there are people who you can go riding. It has enough place for camping, there are a couple of nearby houses where sold you firewood for Campfire and even food. It is a perfect place for camping.

  • The top is spectacular, when you have a clear sky view of the Lake and the trees that surround it is beautiful. Generally quite clean and conserved; but it requires to improve services to tourists. Cleaning of latrines, since there is no sanitary conventional. Although it is less high volcanoes in Guatemala, it is a bit difficult for those who are not in good physical condition, but yes manages to ascend in about 2 hours. The trail is well demarcated and is clean, but it takes a little more environmental interpretation, or form local guides that disposal on the value of the site, the biodiversity of the site and provide rules of behavior to the tourists. The parking is private and also services that are there, but there should be a regulation regarding the same, because the collection is little, but if charged a bit more they could improve them. They indicated that they will build a ramp for persons with disabilities. I think that if they do they will have more influx of people who love nature, but are not able to make the ascent. Horses cost Q.50.00 (slightly more than US$ 7.00) and are in very good condition physical, well manicured and fed. You should ask the community to carry out cleaning trails, because the beast leave excrement in the best parts of the same and that makes the ascent or descent in some sections.
