  • Market located it on Sunday on the streets of the village and the traveler steps to finding all variety of handicrafts in the region. With children must take them well in hand, go Chargers with boxes very fast and can throw them... was a beautiful family experience.

  • If you are lucky you can see peasants and Indians making ceremonial rites within the Church and you will see the saints of the Church covered with indigenous fabrics. Many flowers and people very devotionals to their beliefs.

  • The Iglesias de Santo Tomas is simply magnificent. Said to have been built on the remains of a Cakchiquel Maya temple. A visit here on a Sunday brings the technicolour spectacle of the market directly in front of the church, whilst inside is a blend of Roman Catholic mass and ancient Maya tradition. Copal incense is burned inside and around the church steps. Making the air thick with the sweet scent - not unlike that of Frankincense. A true sensory experience.
  • Visited and lived in this town for a mission trip. Fascinating culture, food and people of the mountains. Highly recommended - worth the extra travel time.
  • visited in 2010. chichicastenango market is an interesting place to see.
  • An interesting and historical church in the heart of the town and middle of the market, where Mayan and Christian cultures and traditions mix.
  • An amazing feeling, magical place, flowers, scrap, Indian !!!
