  • If you're lucky, you can attend the celebration of Mayan ritual. However, access to this hill can be somewhat difficult, especially if it has rained, because you have to climb a hill and the wet mud slides much. The view is splendid and worthwhile, even if there is no celebration.

  • Pascual Abaj is an important local shrine. The hike up there is a bit steep, but short. If you go early enough (6am-ish), you can witness ceremonies.  more »

  • I am not a superstitious person but I could feel something up on that hill that was different - very spiritual. I left before nightfall - somewhat spooky for me, and I have lived and survived in austere and contested places before. Go with a friend!
