Mercado de Artesanias, Antigua
(3.7/5 based on 75 reviews on the web)
Browse your way through Mercado de Artesanias, a covered handcraft market situated just below the main market in Antigua. Wonder through the stalls and shops and marvel at the brightly colored traditional fabrics, masks, jewelry, bags, and hundreds of other items on offer. Prices can be a little higher than other markets in the area, but vendors are happy to negotiate, so don't be afraid to haggle. Keep a close eye on your belongings, as some visitors occasionally report petty theft in this neighborhood. • This market of handicrafts (though the t-shirts...) is not the warmest nor the most beautiful of the Guatemala. If you go there, feel free to cross the road and visit the food market in front: it has much more charm and even if you don't buy anything, you will enjoy the atmosphere of a local market, enjoying all kinds of beans, corn, and other fruits and vegetables found in Central America. And just behind, go see the station of bus chickens and their so well-oiled brushes!
