Convento Santa Clara, Antigua

Categories: Ruins, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4.5/5 based on 180+ reviews on the web
Visit the historical Convento Santa Clara, a tourist site displaying the remains of an elaborate convent complex that once housed over 50 nuns. Originally founded in 1699, the convent suffered irreparable damage in a 1773 earthquake. Since its abandonment, the site has been moderately restored to exhibit its stone archways, church halls, and garden courtyards. Take a stroll among the colorful flowers and trickling water fountains, followed by a picnic on the grass. Keep an eye out for hidden passages and underground rooms.
