Casa Santo Domingo Museums, Antigua

4.7
See a diverse collection of Central American art and artifacts in an atmospheric setting at Casa Santo Domingo Museums--a museum and a five-star hotel built on the grounds of a 16th-century convent destroyed in an earthquake. Walk around the green courtyard inhabited by flamboyant parrots and see the historic ruins of a church and a crypt. Different museums on site cover everything from historical pharmaceuticals to contemporary art, with a significant collection of Central American art from several periods. The hotel's design incorporates the remains and Baroque features of the old convent. You don't have to be a hotel guest to dine in the picturesque restaurant--though do prepare for rather steep prices. • A beautiful spot well worth the visit even if you want to just stroll around the property. It's a hotel, restaurant, bar, spa, church and restored convent property... Sat in the open area central to the property for some lemonade and a few quiet moments. Service was prompt and friendly...
  • Beautiful place. Next time I will stay here a couple of nights. This is an old convent made Museum Hotel and Spa. Tourist are welcome in to visit, they offered a paid tour for 30 qetzales for 30min tour, but if you are in a budget just come in a take it will be worth it. The restaurants look really good as well.
  • Great place, not too friendly if you are a tourist and nor staying there, beware!!!
  • This is not a hotel but also a museum. We can enjoy relaxing and seeing a lot of interesting old things.
  • One of the most important hotels in Antigua. It's an historical place, pool, restaurant, big rooms, parking lots and hosts events.
