La Soufriere Volcano, Saint-Claude

#1 of 7 in Nature in Basse-Terre Island
Visit the highest point on the island, the summit of La Soufriere Volcano, an active volcano. Challenge yourself and hike to the summit, where you'll be rewarded with breathtaking ocean and island views from a height of 1,234 m (4,049 ft). During the approximate 2-hour hike, you'll pass through rainforest, montane thicket, and cloud forest before you reach the ash-strewn crater with an active lava dome at its center. From here, choose to walk around the active dome via a steep rope-assisted path (which takes about 2 hours) further across the island to the village of Richmond, or hike back down. • Great experience to climb this peak while there is a rainy day
  • Preferably mounted in fine weather. Mounted very easy, take to right the beginning of walking, long and beautiful places on the way :)

  • Beautiful and compelling to look at. The activity of the volcano is breath-taking. To be able to see if possible with a GUID to all special places of the volcano. The way up is wonderful and a little exhausting. It is always worth.
