  • Free tour of a very well preserved. The information is accessible through panels simple and concise, if you don't have the chance to visit with a guided tour (Tuesday / Thursday seems to me - it). Documented exhibition (panels, audio and video tapes) on the Soufrière and its last eruption. Beautiful views on the Basse-Terre and the Soufrière. The caretaker of the site is an attraction to him alone if one is not likely!

  • Strong dating back to 1650 renamed in 1989 Louis Delgres in memory of Colonel mulatto who fought against slavery. Wonderful walk between the ramparts dominating the town of Basse-Terre, the guns, the large renovated barracks at the center of the parade ground, the cistern, the prison and the graveyard of soldiers. Admission is free, just outside the Fort there is a parking for cars. Hot, there is no shadow or very little anyway ... we went there at about 11 o'clock in the morning because the weather was a bit dull but all of a sudden the Sun came out and the heat was embarrassing.

  • This fort, which is free, is splendid: superbly renovated, the tour is signposted and argued, the site overlooks the town of Basse Terre and the sea spreads out at his feet. A tribute to Sir Delgres we would not have had the courage if we had not visited this Fort. Guided visits are scheduled. Don't miss this!
