A part of the city's airport, Kangerlussuaq Museum narrates the history of flight in Greenland. From 1960 to 1962 this site served as the center of air command for the American base on Greenland. Learn about the development of planes and air traffic through dozens of photos and old models and plane parts. Organized tours will walk you through the rooms, organized by decades from the 20th century with special emphasis on the years before, during, and after World War II. Given that Kangerlussuaq was established as an American base, the museum also reflects an essential aspect of local heritage. Use our Kangerlussuaq online trip itinerary planner to visit Kangerlussuaq Museum on your trip to Kangerlussuaq, and learn what else travelers and our writers recommend seeing nearby.
