  • Due to the reviews on TripAdvisor and the recommendation on another page we went on vacation at the Plakaki beach. Unfortunately, the description of the "journey" is everywhere much understated to the beach! A metre-high, to descend steep cliff with a railing from shaky iron bars between them, you could easy slip and fall to their deaths, just for a little fun does not pay off is definitely! Especially with children you should this beach never aufsuchen...und just make the mistake of not a bad bag, umbrella, or otherwise do something - you need both hands and sturdy footwear. Definitely not suitable for unathletic people (we are early 30s, slim and sports 5 times a week and had terrible anxiety at the departure and climb).

  • We have been in Zakinthos many times before, we are here the last three months, that's the whole summer, yet we didn't have a clue of this place. Simply the Paradise. Bear in mind though that you need...  read more »
  • A really outside the usual sightseeing tours in Zante. To get there we must reach Agalas, a small mountain village and once you get in front of a bar at the end of the village (recognizable because it exposes a huge sign that invites tourists to ask questions at them), take the road on the left which goes down first in a beautiful area of olive groves and then after several switchbacks up a clearing where you can leave your car or scooter and walk for a stretch of path through the bushes, then for a staircase carved into the rock (la scala begins where there is a pole with an orange life jacket attached). The scale is really steep and narrow and in some places is pretty battered but carries a large white cliff and flat overlooking the sea. So it wouldn't be anything special, in fact I saw a bunch of guys go away saying that it was not worth it. But we walk for about 100 metres to the left (facing the sea) to reach a Cove with calm water and wonderfully Riviera where you can swim and snorkel and visit some caves dug in the wall nearby. definitely the best place to have had a swim in Zakynthos. I'm down in flipflops but a pair of comfortable shoes would be ideal. Is there any grey area but after noon it will be difficult not to burn yourself:D lie on the cliff is not so convenient to where "at least" something soft to put under his head would be ideal. The fact that many tourists are discouraged at the sight of the scale makes it wonderfully isolated, when we were there, I counted 12 people maximum. Would advise to take us kids!
