Ride jet skis, banana boats, and wakeboards to experience the clear waters of Vai Beach, surrounded by golden sand and the largest natural palm forest in Europe. Climb the steps at the side of the beach to the viewing platforms, which offer a panoramic view of the water and the palm forest of Vai. Beach umbrellas and sun loungers are available for rent, and there are many beachside restaurants and cafes here. Toilets and showers are available for a fee, as is parking. Wow...what an idylic place. (on a quiet day) We came in October and due to Covid it was very quiet, which was lovely for us. We sat and had a beer and a glass of wine whilst enjoying the lovely... more »

Had a great trip to Vai beach. Very clean, very well maintained, and picturesque. Shop, water sports, restaurant, cafe - anything you may need available on site. more »

Definitely a nice place to visit in Greece. It's not the only palm beach in Creta, but this one has the widest beach and best ease of access. I can't say I was impressed by it. The sitting space is limited and a bit expensive compared to other beachs in Creta. I would recommend visiting it, but it's not on my "must see" locations in Creta.

Not really worth it, many nicer beaches to see

It is a long drive to get to Vai. You pay to park then it's a whopping €30 for 2 sunbeds and a parasol. Everywhere else on the island it is 10 or 15 euros. It is not a sandy beach, it is a pebble beach with lots of rocks in the water, great for snorkeling (we grazed our tummies swimming in the water). You do need to wear shoes suitable for going in the water. It was very busy when we went, I would not want to be there at the height of the season. There is a lovely view from the view point. All in all I would say that there are much nicer beaches that you can go to.

It's not really a perfect sandy beach as such. The best thing about it is the taverna with a stunning view.

Since the visit to the palm tree forest is forbidden, there's nothing really to see there. If your hotel is not nearby, driving to this beach is not worth it.
