  • This church is big and grand and full of some amazing icons and statues. The floors are covered with some beautiful carpets that muffle any sounds so it is peaceful and calm. A beautiful sanctuary to ...  more »
  • Interesting Church, beautiful icons and the crypt is certainly worth a visit. keep the opening during in the holes!

  • This lovely church has many beautiful icons. We didn't realise that we could see the saint's relics (?) in the crypt but don't mind! There are also some lovely mosaics.  more »

  • Interesting, but - as so often in Thessaloniki - heavily restored... Whilst I am aware of the importance of the importance of the local saints, for me the real find was the crypt...
  • Go there and take the blessings of agios Dimitrios, the great Saint from Thessaloniki !!!
  • This impressive, Orthodox Christian church is dedicated to St. Demetrius, the patron saint of Thessaloniki.
  • Even if you're not the religious type, this is a very interesting place both for its architecture and its history. Be sure to check out the visiting hours and prepare to spend some time inside. It's worth it.
  • Nice holy place, free admission, the underground crypt was closed though
