Deepen your knowledge of Greek history at Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki, which houses a vast collection of artifacts unearthed in Macedonia. Visit the ground-floor galleries to see sculptures created between the Archaic and the Roman periods. As you explore this section of the museum, you can also examine ritual objects from ancient cemeteries and reconstructions of facades found on Macedonian tombs. Interesting Museum, to do especially when the heat is overwhelming. Objects are well highlighted.

Should visit. Very interesting museum with a plethora of exhibits, rightly reflecting the fascinating and long history of the region. The exhibition is not very easy to follow without the help of the map; provided at the reception. The explanations of the exhibits are very informative. One, to my humble opinion, negative point is that the museum shop is extremely poor. There are very few items for sale. There should be imitations of jewelry resembling the exquisite Gold items found in the museum, for example, handmade from local artists and jewelry makers.

Great museum shows you the past in a very modern way. I can highly recommend. Students and children have free entrance. Others 8,- €.

Superb museum cataloguing local history - which, by its nature, is the history of many great nations and trading partners.

Where to stay in Thessaloniki

If you come to Thessaloniki to splurge and pamper yourself, book a room at one of the city's five-star hotels, providing spacious rooms packed with amenities, as well as access to rooftop bars, ground-floor restaurants, and fitness facilities. Centrally located hotels also provide secure parking, complimentary Wi-Fi, and quick walking access to the city's top attractions. On the other hand, if all you need is a comfortable bed and a warm meal, consider a budget-friendly hostel or family-run inn in the residential areas outside the city's central area.
