Kastro Ke Medieval Ekklisia, Skiathos
Categories: Ruins, Tourist Spots
Take a step back in time by visiting the ruins of the ancient city of Kastro Ke Medieval Ekklisia. A thriving town between the 12th and 19th centuries, the cliff-side settlement overlooks the spectacular rocky beaches below. It's believed that the city was once home to 300 houses and 22 churches, but today only one church can be seen, along with a few restored houses. Explore the town and enjoy the views; consider combining your visit with a stop at the beach below, where you can grab a meal or drink at the on-site restaurant. The walk up can be quite steep, so wear comfortable walking shoes or rent a bike or car. The site is also notably uneven in many places, which may pose difficulties for those with mobility issues.
