  • We reached Phaestos during lunch time (mid-July) on our way to the South coast and were not long enough through to inspect anything correctly because of the heat. If you would like to admire the large plant alone, I would recommend tomorrow or even better the late afternoon to sunset and the early. I find worth seeing alone the location overlooking the wide (a Palace worthy). There is much to see and you should take the time (at least 1 hour). I find it quaint and original (no imaginative restoration) as Knossos, both should have seen. The different levels to well recognize, and there are many well preserved archaeological pieces. The advantage was of course - very few visitors at this time. The attached shop brings wonderful cooling and offers many beautiful souvenirs, drinks and snacks. Ok, children up to 18 for free also here occurs the large parking lot for free.

  • After being at Knossos (and remained baffled by the reconstruction based on reinforced concrete, sigh) so decided to Festo, although there are pretty much only ruins. The signs are few and insufficient and many (too many) areas are fenced off for years but still it is noted that the city was rich, impressive and very advanced (there are several solutions to bring drinking water really surprising considering the age of the city). If you are architects and lovers of history is certainly interesting, maybe some boring for those expecting to find environments reconstructed as at Knossos. One sore point is the price of admission, certainly too high considering the offer.

  • Went to this site for a university trip. The site is well managed with a fantastic gift shop but the best thing about this site is the cat pack that followed us around soliciting pets from all of us. ...  more »
