Oia's Main Street, Santorini

(4.4/5 based on 300+ reviews on the web)
Traversing the most picturesque Santorini village, Oia's Main Street crosses along the top of a cliff, branching off through narrow passageways like a fish's backbone. Although Oia is quieter than tourist-frenzied Fira, this main pedestrian strip still boasts trendy boutiques and expensive jewelry shops, as well as a central square with sweeping scenic views. See the blue domes of characteristic 19th-century churches, traditional houses, and cobbled paths. Built on the steep slope of the caldera, many of its dwellings nestle in niches cut into volcanic rock. Instead of walking, you can opt for a horseback ride through the area. • Beautiful views that'll make you wish you had 360 vision, the hike from Fira to Oia is made worth it for this!  more »
  • We were at the end of October on Santorini and have ventured the ascent and descent. The view is really worth seeing and it's worth really to deal with the way on foot. Of course, you can handle the ascent and descent on the back of a donkey, what we found however as animal cruelty and politely refused the offer. Top you will be rewarded with a fantastic view and can quench thirst and hunger in one of the wonderful tavernas.
