  • After visiting the capital blame Rhodes-the village of Jebonas, went to the West Coast. En route visit the small village of Kritinia decided. The name of the village comes from the name of the island of Crete, because historically considered displaced persons from this island by the founders of the town. One of the main local attractions is regarded as Kritinia medieval castle with elements of Byzantine and Venetian architecture, known under the name of "Castello". You cannot lock drive, there are pointers-"Castello Kritinia. It is situated on the pine covered rock with a height of 131 m above sea level, it is visible from any point of the road. At the foot of the Castle offers free parking, a small souvenir shop-Café, you can buy water, coffee. Up to the Castle lead concreted stairs. Entrance to the castle is free. This castle was built by the Knights of St John (also known as the Knights Hospitallers, or Maltese Knights) in 1472 by the project of famous medieval architect and City Planner Giorgio Orsini. Site for the construction of the fortress was chosen perfectly, since the top of the Hill opened a great overview of sea open spaces and the enemy could not be caught locals by surprise. A little history: in 1480 Island tried to capture the Ottoman Turks, was sent to 100 thousand Turkish soldiers. Despite the numerical superiority of the invaders, the Knights ' troops managed to defend the island, and the Turks were forced to retreat. In the battle, the fortress suffered extensive damage, but the Knights did not lose time on its restructuring, having decided to restore it later. Unfortunately, to this day, there is little that survived from the beautiful medieval castle, in addition to the massive external walls (partially restored) and the ruins of a small chapel inside the fortress. Today above the entrance to the ancient castle can also be seen surviving family crests of two great masters who ruled Rhodes at that time. From the top of the castle of Kritinia offers panoramic views of the West coast of Rhodes, Aegean Sea and nearby islands (Alimija). Beautiful, romantic!

  • The ruins of the small is beautiful and offers a beautiful panoramic view on the sea. However, the small "local" beneath the fortress is absolutely gorgeous. Here a very sympathetic man has created in drop-out manner his little paradise to enjoy ice cream, cool soft drink, wine or similar. Our highlight of the trip here to sit and just enjoy.

  • Unique view of the Islands, not to be missed. The castle is still being restored but it is masterful. And a big thank you to the nicely decorated bar located at the bottom of the Castle or, after drinking an excellent "orange juice fresh", the boss has given excellent tomatoes that we savored on in a Cove surrounding after a good swim. Not to be missed
