Venetian Harbour, Rethymnon

3.6
#4 of 68 in Things to do in Rethymnon
The beating heart of Chania, Venetian Harbour was once an important port. The Venetian shipyards still stand, but today they're home to hip restaurants and bars constructed to follow the curve of the harbor. The wide pathways around the harbor provide room for the crowds of visitors that come for romantic strolls near the water. A small mosque in the center hosts traveling vendors offering traditionally made handicrafts. Consider a stay at one of the many hotels with a view of the sea. Put Venetian Harbour and other Rethymnon attractions into our Rethymnon itinerary planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

Where to stay in Rethymnon

A growing number of visitors to Rethymnon choose to stay in one of the surrounding villages, where air-conditioned rooms near well-developed beaches cost considerably less than in the city itself. The elegant guesthouses just outside town provide a quiet night's sleep, as well as quick access to good shopping and dining options. If you prefer to stay in the thick of things, book a room near the city's Venetian port, a lively area that's just a walk away from the center's major attractions.
