Heraion of Samos, Pythagorion
Categories: Ruins, Tourist Spots
One of the most important ancient sanctuaries dedicated to Hera and a World Heritage Site, still contains one of the tall columns built to support the temple's massive roof structure. The alleged birthplace of Hera, the wife and sister of Greek God Zeus, the site once provided the setting for an annual festival celebrated in honor of the goddess of marriage and the family. The single column still standing provides an ideal backdrop for snapshots of the history-steeped landscape. Round off your visit by exploring nearby Pythagoreion, an ancient city filled with Greek and Roman monuments. Using our custom trip planner, Samos attractions like Heraion of Samos can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

Kann man auch von aussen betrachten, wenn man nicht in die Details gehen will. Die Öffnungszeiten fand ich ungut. If you don't want to go into the details, can be considered also from the outside. I found the opening hours of hard feelings.show original
Man sieht noch die Grundmauern von dem Tempel stehen. Leider gibt es keine Führung bei der man etwas über die Geschichte erfährt. So muss man sich mit einem Reiseführer in Papierform behelfenThere are still the foundation walls of the temple. Unfortunately, there is no leadership in which you can learn about the history. So you must help yourself with a guide in paper formshow original
Lots of ancient history, by the sea. A relaxing tour.
Make sure you visit this ancient place while on Samos!
The remains of the temple of Hera, UNESCO site. There is only one complete column left of the temple but still it is very impressive and worth a visit. A lot of history to see.
