    This medioeval church is impressive but unfortunately it is only open in the morning. Being there in the afternoon we didn't have the chance to see the celebrated frescoes, a real pity.

    Beautiful Byzantine Church, Agioi Apostoloi (Holy Apostles) at Pyrgi Village (which is also called Painted Village), Chios Island. Great Wall paintings inside dated from 1665.

    The Church of the Holy Apostles belongs to the architectural type of "island" octagonal churches, it is a small copy of the catholicon of the New Monastery and it is an excellently preserved Byzantine monument. Externally, it has rich ceramic decoration (toothed bands, bottle mouths, brick arches). The interior of the church is covered with frescoes by Antonio Domestic Hunter of Crete, from the year 1665. The monument is open to the public and is located next to the village square.
