Perissa Black Sand Beach
One of Santorini's black volcanic beaches, Perissa Black Sand Beach remains popular for its calm waters and abundance of sea life. Lined with rustic seafood taverns, the beach offers you a chance to snorkel or windsurf the turquoise sea during the day, and explore the island's popular dining and entertainment options at night. The site lies in the shadows of the Profitis Ilias, a 560 m (1,800 ft) high mountain that protects the coastline from the harsh Aegean winds. A rugged trail starts just above the beach and leads to the ruins of an ancient Christian church, which you can explore on foot or by riding a donkey. Beautiful beach. We were here before the tourist season started (end of Feb) and had the beach to ourselves. Walked from Perivolos to Perissa all along the beach, it was heavenly
-
Wonderful beach to spend your vacation. It's really beautiful with black sand, the water will get too much cold in the evening. Different street restaurants with private seaside chairs and umbrellas. It's better to try at daytime. Very peaceful area with good food and nice people. There are homestays and resorts near to the beach. Loved it

Beautiful beach. Lovely black sand. Clear water. Came in September so it wasn't packed like in peak season. We were able to easily find front row beach chairs for 10€ on two separate days. Water was still nice to get into.
-
Pleasant beach not too crowded with good choice of facilities. Black gritty sand is more pleasant than it sounds. Good swimming but steeply shelving beach not so good for small children. Reasonably priced sun beds and parasols.
-
Beautiful beach, surrounded by bars and restaurants where you can have a chair located. Good place to rest.
