  • The monastery, by the standards of Kefalonia, big enough. The road there is a signpost. We went there in the morning. A quiet and beautiful place. We were the only visitors, but as it turns out-not for long. The place is known and there bring tours by bus (with a large group of Spaniards visited us). The first thing we went to watch this old church, which now operates as a museum. Of course, the impression is stunning. Frescos on the walls became visible after the earthquake, a little more than half a century ago (before that they were under a layer of plaster). Unfortunately, you cannot take pictures, follow strictly. Beautiful iconostasis, murals, the history of the monastery, all this in the Museum. In the middle of the monastery there is a small chapel (acting), it holds a shrine which in this monastery committed pilgrimage: part of the feet. Well-groomed territory, but are servants of the monastery was built and there no entrance. But we still got the pleasure of visiting.
